Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi, the head of All India Majlis-e-Muslimeen (AIMIM) and MP from Hyderabad, has said that former PM Rajiv Gandhi had ordered the Babri Masjid to be unlocked. Which had nothing to do with the Shahbano case. Owaisi told the press that the law was violated only 15 minutes after the verdict. Subsequently, Rajiv Gandhi has started his election campaign from there. A 25-page order was issued in a five-minute hearing. Shah Bano had no connection with opening the locks.
He has further stated that 'Whatever Madhav Godbole has said is true. What he has said about our former PM Rajiv Gandhi is a historical fact. The Babri Masjid lock was opened on his orders and the Congress government was there at that time. Earlier, former Union Home Secretary Madhav Godbole said that if Rajiv Gandhi had acted, the Babri Masjid-Ram temple dispute could have been resolved.

Godbole had claimed on Monday that even before the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992, the then central government could have prevented it from reaching central security forces to Ayodhya. Even the President's rule could be implemented in Uttar Pradesh as the then state government was skeptical of cooperating with the central government.
