Ashok Leyland, the flagship firm of the Hinduja Group, announced on Tuesday that it has introduced its first eight-wheel truck, the AVTR 2620, making it the only company with a comprehensive range of vehicles based on lift axle technology.

Customers will have exceptional operational flexibility to choose the optimal solution based on their load, as well as best-in-class Total Cost of Operation benefits, according to the business in a statement.

"With the debut of the AVTR 2620, Ashok Leyland becomes the first and only firm in the country to offer a comprehensive range of lift axle trucks with GVWs ranging from 25.5 to 47.5 tonnes," the company stated.  The new truck may be used as a 25.5 tonne GVW truck with the lift axle down or as an 18.5 tonne GVW truck with the lift axle up, according to the company, which means lower fuel and operating expenses under light loads.

"Ashok Leyland has a history of of introducing products which have disrupted the commercial vehicle industry.  With its unique lift axle arrangement, the AVTR 2620 provides a higher Total Cost of Operation (TCO) advantage to our customers operating in ec-om, package, and tanker," stated Sanjeev Kumar, company's Head-Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle. "The Ashok Leyland AVTR 2620 is a testament to our technological foresight and dedication to providing superior logistical solutions to clients...," he said.

The truck, which is based on the AVTR modular truck platform, offers multiple cabin and feature options. The loading span varies from 24 to 32 feet, the statement added.
