India Vs England: Gavaskar says Ashwin and Pandya provide batting depth to India

India is to play 5 match test series against England which will be starting from August 1. The first match is to be played in Birmingham on Wednesday. India is aiming to win their first test series in England since 2007.

Both teams have played a practice match which resulted in a draw. It is clear from the practice match that India needs to work on all the departments. The top order batsman failed to hit big innings. Dhawan and Pujara struggling in the lead up to the series. Indian spinners were also struggling in taking wickets.

Little master Sunil Gavaskar said that India has a good opportunity to prove itself. He further added that India is taking the decision regarding the number of batsman and bowler in the team.

According to him Ashwin and Pandya should be in playing the team as they provide depth to Indian batting. He clarifies the reason that both the players have scored a ton in the test match. If Karthik bats at six with Ashwin and Pandya to follow then they can play Kuldeep Yadav can also be taken in the team as the second spinner. He further added that of course, it depends on the kind of the pitch they see on the morning of the game.
