The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has requested that Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Shwetank Mishra be held responsible for attacking AASU workers in Dibrugarh without cause.

"There should be harsh legal charges against the SP since he attacked multiple AASU employees in the district for no good reason," AASU president Dipanka Nath said. The SP allegedly "picked-up" numerous workers from the Swahid Bhawan, including some students who did not even belong to the AASu, and assaulted them, according to Nath.

"Not only did he abuse the workers, but the SP broke three batons in a night beating these students," he continued. Only a mentally disturbed individual, according to Nath, could commit such a thing. "We demand that the entire affair be investigated at a high level." He said, "The SP must be punished for what he has done."

Nath also warned the government that if it does not take action on the matter, there will be "consequences." He further said that police officer broke into the AASU office and stepped on the 'Swahid Bedi.' "This was a betrayal of our martyrs," Nath said.
