Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced plans to publish a book in May, when the BJP-led govt in Assam completes one year in office. According to him, the "Chief Minister's Diary" would chronicle his days in office as well as government events.

Sarma was sworn in as Assam's chief minister on May 10 of last year. In assembly elections conducted in March-April last year, the BJP-led government was re-elected for a second straight term. Sarma took over as chief minister from the BJP's Sarbananda Sonowal. "On May 10th of this year, I will come out with a book," Sarma recently told the media. The book will outline how I spent my time as chief minister and how the government and office of the chief minister functioned throughout the previous year." "The book is an attempt to provide people glimpses into the day-to-day operation of the administration and will bring them closer to the government," he continued. I'm already keeping a journal.

Sarma has already published a few books. The state government's crusade against narcotics, as well as the waiver of micro finance loans, are expected to be included in the book. The state administration has declared that one lakh government jobs will be available by March of this year.

"In the previous eight months, we have held 31 Cabinet sessions, some militant outfits have returned to mainstream, and the Assam police have gone all out to ensure peace and order," Sarma said. On New Year's Eve, we were able to keep the number of casualties to a bare minimum."

"In the previous eight months, Assam Police have done admirably," he remarked. For the first time, the number of disposed cases exceeds the number of cases filed. Last year, 1,32,000 cases were filed, with 1,34,000 cases being resolved."
