Guwahati: The number of people infected in Assam has risen to 5,75,220 so far after 1,120 more corona patients were found on Monday and the total death toll has risen to 5,404 after 17 more infected people died. Giving this information, the National Health Mission (NHM) said that 1,347 more patients of coronavirus have died, but the government has not included them in the total number of deceased as these patients were also suffering from other diseases.

There are currently 9,749 active cases in the province and 5,58,720 people have recovered from the infection. The state recorded 568 new cases of corona infection on Sunday, while 986 people were found to be infected with corona on Saturday. While 15 patients lost their lives. Many northeastern states have seen a decline in the national average due to a decline in infection cases. Weekly cases of coronavirus infection in the country have declined by 4 percent. While last week cases were reported to have increased by 7.5 percent.

Meanwhile, the total number of infected people rose to 28,709 on Monday after 81 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in Assam's neighboring state of Nagaland. A health bulletin said no one died on Monday due to infection in the state and the death toll remained at 585. The number of active cases in the state is 1,397. In the last 24 hours, 60 people have recovered from an infection, taking the total number of recoverers to 25,906. The rate of recovery from the infection is 90.23 percent.
