Assam declares total curfew in 5 districts with high Covid positivity rate

Guwahati: The Assam government has issued a new guideline on Monday in view of the situation in Corona. According to it, a total curfew has been imposed in 5 districts. It will be effective from 5 am on July 20. At the same time, only 5 people, including the religious leader, will be allowed to pray in the mosque. State Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua issued an order saying that full curfew will remain in force at Golaghat, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur and Vishwanath. It will continue till further orders in both urban and rural areas.

Curfew will also be in force at Dhubri, Kamrup, Salmara, Majuli, Bangaigaon, Chirang, Udalguri, Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Charaidev, Hailakandi, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Nalbri, Buxa, Bajali, Hozai, Dhemaji, Karimganj from 5 pm to 5 am. The positivity rate in these places has improved somewhat in the last few days.

In 5 districts where positivity rates are high, all shops, offices, business establishments, grocery shops, fruits, vegetables, dairy, milk booths, restaurants, dhabas, showrooms, cold storages, warehouses will remain closed till further orders. Shops, markets and other establishments will be opened by 12 noon in districts where positivity rate is improving. On the other hand, where the positivity rate has improved, markets can be opened by 4 pm.
