GUWAHATI: The Assam government has approved more than three lakh homes under the Center's major Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) initiative, a government official  said on Thursday, january 2.

According to Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Assam has been allocated a target of 3,31,193 units by the Union Ministry of Rural Development for the programme.

The Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Department was able to grant 3,04,218 houses to the beneficiaries in the previous week, he claimed. In the last nine months of the current fiscal year, more than 10 lakh dwellings were sanctioned by Dass' department under the PMAY-G.

However, he asserted that the agency has been successful in taking all essential steps to guarantee that the plan is carried out successfully throughout the state. Dass said that the winners who just had their housing applications approved would soon get the first instalment, enabling them to start building.

The Minister said that thanks to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ongoing direction and support of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the department has been able to take the required steps for the smooth implementation of the scheme in the State.

The recipients who received approval for houses in the past week would soon receive their first installments, he said, allowing them to begin building their separate homes. The P&RD Minister also thanked the departmental staff members for their steadfast efforts to ensure the smooth implementation of PMAY-G in the State.
