During the Christmas period, miscreants looted a man in broad daylight in Guwahati's Jayanagar neighbourhood on Thursday 13 January, taking more than Rs 2 lakh.

Anil Shah, a native of Guwahati, Assam, was among those who were robbed by dacoits. It was alleged that the crooks stole a large amount of money, believed to be around 2.18 lakhs. On Thursday, January 13th, the event occurred in the streets of Guwahati's Jayanagar district.

According to sources, on that particular day, a guy called Anil Shah had taken cash money from SBI (State Bank of India) and was heading home.

While on his way home, a gang of bike-riding thugs reportedly plundered him and took all of his money. On Thursday, the crooks stole the money and fled down the street.

However, the victim man afterwards filed a complaint against the looters at the city's Basistha Police Station in connection with the matter. Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the case to determine who the dacoits are and how much money they have stolen.

A number of charges of broad daylight dacoity by bike-borne miscreants have been filed with the city's numerous police stations. A band of miscreants took money from a guy riding in a city bus in Guwahati earlier this year. Police eventually arrested the accused gang members and collected cash in the amount of Rs 17,500. Mintu Ali, Sunil Nath, and Abul Ali, all from the Adabari neighbourhood of the city, were detained.

A group of bike-borne miscreants looted Rupees 2 lakh from former DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) Shyam Sundar Talukdar in another dacoity case in Guwahati's Jatia neighbourhood.
