Guwahati: Three Swedish nationals have been arrested by Dibrugarh police in Assam for allegedly violating visa norms. The accused included two women and one man. All of them are accused of indulging in illegal conversions on the pretext of tourist visas. The arrested accused have been identified as Hannah Mikaela Bloom, Marcus Arne Heinrich Bloom and Susanna Elizabeth Hakanasan.

According to media reports, the three accused were asking people to convert to Christianity during an event at a tea garden falling in the Naharkatia area. A program called the 'Peace and Healing Prayer Festival' was organized here from October 25 to 27. Meanwhile, the police arrested these people on October 26, 2022. The event was organised by the united church fellowship and bless Assam mission network at a playground in Nakaraktia. People were called to recover from the disease at the healing meeting of this program.

It is alleged that the real purpose of this program was to promote religious conversion. Local residents opposed the event. They reached the police station to arrest the three foreign nationals and started protesting. The mob also raised slogans against the police and started praying outside the police station itself. Finally, the police took cognizance of the matter and took action.
