Assam Rifles Hosts Flag-off Ceremony for National Unity Tour in Kohima

Kohima: Major General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, IG, IGAR (N), accompanied by Brigadier Jai Bhagwan Singh Rathi, Deputy Inspector General, HQ 5 Sector, Assam Rifles, kicked off a National Unity Tour involving 20 students from Kohima College, Kohima Science College, Sazolie College, and Oriental College of Kohima on Saturday.

The students participating in the National Unity Tour will embark on visits to the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, as well as the Kumaon and Naga Regimental Centre in Ranikhet. They will gain insights into the Indian Army, its training programs, infrastructure, and other aspects, aiming to inspire them to consider joining the armed forces and fostering a deep sense of patriotism.

Additionally, the students will explore the National Capital, immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage, witnessing monumental structures, and experiencing the vibrant metropolitan life.

The primary goal of the National Unity Tour is to strengthen bonds between civilians and security forces, promoting harmony. It offers students from the northeastern region an extraordinary opportunity to step beyond their boundaries, creating memories they will treasure for a lifetime. The stories from the tour are expected to resonate throughout Nagaland, fostering a deeper sense of unity.

Meanwhile, an educational tour initiated by the Assam Rifles for children from border villages has entered its sixth day, featuring an interaction with Inspector General Assam Rifles (IGAR N), Kohima.

This visit has proven instrumental in building understanding and enhancing the relationship between the youth and security forces.
