Mumbai: In Thane, Maharashtra, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has made headlines by arresting two Bangladeshi nationals in Navi Mumbai for allegedly residing in India illegally. The incident unfolded on a recent Friday in Khidukpada village at Nadve in Panvel, where the ATS team discovered the individuals, both aged 24, living in a chawl during an inspection of the locality.

Upon questioning, the two suspects failed to provide any valid documents supporting their entry into the country. Despite lacking proper documentation, they possessed Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards, and driving licenses, raising suspicions regarding their legal status in the country.

Following their apprehension, authorities registered a case against them on Saturday under the Passport (Entry into India) Rules-1950 and the Foreigners Act. Furthermore, local law enforcement has launched an investigation into the matter to delve deeper into the activities of the two individuals and uncover any potential links to illegal immigration networks.

The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in combating illegal immigration and highlights the importance of robust enforcement measures to maintain border security and uphold immigration laws. As the investigation progresses, authorities will likely take stringent action against those found to be in violation of immigration regulations, emphasizing the significance of adhering to legal procedures and requirements for entry into the country.
