HYDERABAD: Telangana's Minister for Industries and Information Technology, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), stated on Tuesday that anyone attempting to disrupt communal harmony in the state will be dealt with iron hand by the state government.
The minister stated that the govt would be steadfast in its efforts to ensure peace and order in the state. He remarked this after laying the foundation stone for different development projects totaling Rs 500 crore in Hyderabad's old city.
KTR remembered that when he was a student at a school in Hyderabad, the city experienced communal unrest and curfews on a yearly basis. He said that there had been no communal riots in Hyderabad or other parts of the state since the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) took power.
TRS, he said, had never indulged in politics in the name of religion. "We believe in progressive politics. We believe in building rather than destroying politics "he said. KTR said some forces were attempting to separate people in the guise of religion or caste for political advantage, without identifying any parties. The TRS working president stated that it is everyone's obligation to oppose such forces.
KTR, who is also the minister for municipal administration and urban development, said the announcement of approximately Rs 500 crore in development projects in a single day demonstrates the Chandrasekhar Rao-led government's dedication to the development of Hyderabad's old city.
