Daniil Medvedev showed respect for Novak Djokovic ahead of their Australian Open final clash. The number 04 in the world, he acknowledged that the Serb is one of the "greatest players in tennis history."

Medvedev defeated  Stefanos Tsitsipas to make his second Grand Slam final at Melbourne Park and set up a clash against world No. 1 Djokovic. He said, "I'm the challenger of the final vs. the man who won 8 Australian Opens in 8 semis and finals. He's one of the greatest players in history. We'll both feel pressure of course. But if we talk in general, nothing to lose for me.I think the H2H doesn't matter that much. I lost vs. him in tight matches and I didn't have my current level. When you play the Big Three for the 1st time, it's tough. 7 times, it gives experience."

The head-to-head record between the two stands at Djokovic's side as has four wins and three losses against the Russian. Victory over fourth seed Medvedev would mean an 18th Grand Slam title for Djokovic, pulling him within two of the record 20 shared by "Big Three" rivals Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal.
