ICC Ranking: Shefali Verma lost position, Beth Mooney became number one women's T20 batsman

Melbourne: Five-time champion Australian Opening batswoman Mooney has won the top spot in the latest T20 rankings, having been named Player of the Tournament at the Women's T20 World Cup. Mooney has achieved the distinction of becoming number one by removing Indian youth opening batswoman Shefali Verma. Shefali reached number-1 for the first time in a career only last week.

Shefali has to pay just two runs against Australia in the World Cup final. Australia beat India by 85 runs to become the champion for the fifth time on Sunday. Mooney, who scored 259 runs in six innings in the World Cup, has climbed two places to number one in the batsmen's list with a rating of 762, while Shefali has slipped two places to number three.

Mooney has managed to reach number one for the first time in her career. It reached number two in March 2018. New Zealand captain Suzy Bates remains at number two with a rating of 750 and her fellow batsman Sophie Devine is at number four. World champions Australia captain Meg Lenning and Indian batsman Smriti Mandhana have fallen one place each to slip to sixth and seventh respectively.
