NEW DELHI:  Under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for drones and drone components, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry distributed roughly Rs 30 crore to 23 beneficiaries during the fiscal year 2022–2023 (FY 2022–2023).

On September 30, 2021, the PLI plan for drones and drone parts was unveiled in an effort to support the domestic drone sector.

The ministry estimates that the whole incentive will cost Rs 120 crore over three fiscal years. The aggregate sales of all domestic drone manufacturers in FY 2020–21 are almost double that amount. The programme also includes software creators for drones.

On July 6, 2022, a preliminary list of PLI recipients, including 12 drone manufacturers and 11 drone component manufacturers, was made public.

The Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) programme for drones and drone parts has recently received approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA). The government's initiative Atmanirbhar Bharat, which was started with the aim of making India a key player in the international market through self-created chances, has received a huge boost from it.
