New Delhi: Patanjali Research Foundation Trust belonging to yoga guru Baba Ramdev has been exempted from tax for five years. That is, now the donor can get tax exemption in lieu of donations to this institution. Tell you that this concession was made earlier, which has now been extended for five years. Significantly, such exemptions are given to a university, college, or scientific research organization for scientific research.

This simply means that any person or institution who donates something to the Patanjali Research Foundation Trust can reduce the amount equivalent to this donation from its taxable income. His taxable income will decrease accordingly. State that Patanjali Research Foundation Trust established Patanjali research institute, which was inaugurated by PM Modi in May 2017.  The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) attached to the Income Tax Department issued a notification on Tuesday saying, "The Central Government has approved M/s Patanjali Research Foundation Trust, Haridwar under the category of 'Research Association' for scientific research under the objective of Clause (ii) of sub-section (1) of Section 35 of the Income Tax 1961.''

The notification said that the official gazette will come into force from the date of publication and the assessment will be effective from 2022-23 to 2027-28.  However, along with this exemption, many conditions have also been laid down. Pantanjali has to ensure that the 'research activity' will be conducted by itself. They had to maintain his bookkeeping and submit it to the Income Tax Department after conducting an audit with legally certified accountants. At the same time, the group will have to make a separate full statement about the donations received and how much money was spent on research.
