Islamabad: Pakistan's Babar Azam has become the fastest batsman to complete 1,000 runs as a captain in ODI Internationals. Babar achieved the feat during his 103-run innings in the first ODI of the three-match series against the West Indies played in Multan on Wednesday.

Fastest thousand ODI runs (as captain):-

Virat Kohli (India) - 17 innings
AB de Villiers (South Africa) - 18 innings
Kane Williamson (New Zealand) - 20 innings
Alistair Total (England) - 21 innings
Sourav Ganguly (India) - 22 innings

Babar Azam has surpassed former Team India captain Virat Kohli in this regard, who completed 1,000 runs in the 17th innings as a captain. It is followed by former South Africa captain AB de Villiers (18) and New Zealand's Kane Williamson (20). With this, Babar Azam has now become the only batsman in the world to score three consecutive centuries in ODIs. Before scoring a century in this match, Babar had also scored a century in the second and third ODI matches against the Australian team in April. Babar scored three consecutive centuries against the West Indies in 2016.
