Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has placed a bet on the Brahmin-Muslim candidates in the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. The BSP has fielded the most candidates from these sections. except for the Gangoh seat of Saharanpur, the party has announced the names for the 12 seats. It is believed that after the break-up of the alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the Lok Sabha elections, the BSP is once again trying to increase the support base under the social engineering formula.

The BSP is trying to strengthen its base by making a dent in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) through the Brahmin card and in the SP's vote bank through the Muslim card. Political observers believe that the BSP, which won 10 seats against the SP's 5 in the Lok Sabha elections, may get Muslim votes, but it will not be easy for the BSP to find a dent in the BJP's core Brahmin vote bank. The Election Commission has issued a notification for 13 seats in Hamirpur according to which the results will be declared here on September 27 and the counting will be on September 23.
