Cape Town: Bangladesh won the ICC Under-19 World Cup final played at the Cenveus Park ground, beating India by three wickets as per Duckworth-Louis rule to become the champion for the first time. Bangladesh won the toss and bowled first, bowled four-time champions India for 177 runs in 47.2 overs and then achieved the target by losing seven wickets under Duckworth-Louis rule while remaining 23 balls.

Bangladesh, chasing a target of 178 runs from India, gave a strong start to Bangladesh with a 50-run partnership for the first wicket by Pravej Hussain Eamon (47) and Tanjid Hasan (17). Bangladesh then lost their six wickets within the next 52 runs. Having lost their six wickets for 102 runs, Bangladesh now had their hopes set on Eamon and captain Akbar Ali (43 not out). Bangladesh again returned to the contest with a 41-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Eamon and Ali.

But then Yashaswi Jaiswal drove Eamon back to India in the match. After this, the rain came and the game had to be stopped for some time. When the match resumed, Bangladesh got a revised target of seven runs off 30 balls and achieved it with 23 balls to spare. Earlier, the Indian opener played brilliant innings of 88 off 121 balls. Apart from this, Tilak Verma played useful innings of 38 and Dhruv Jurel scored 22 runs. Due to which India could reach 177.
