Dhaka: Indiscriminate firing is being reported at the Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh on Friday. 7 people were reportedly killed in the firing. Local media quoted Bangladesh police as saying in this regard. According to Bangladesh's leading newspaper Dhaka Tribune, the attack took place at a madrassa in the Rohingya Refugee Camp. Four people were killed on the spot when unidentified assailants opened fire here. While three people succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the hospital.

An official of the security forces said unidentified men attacked the madrassa in Block H-52 of Camp No. 18 in Ukhiya at around 4 am. The attack was previously described as a conflict between two rival Rohingya groups. Ukhiya Superintendent of Police Shihab Kaiser told local media that four people died immediately after the attack. Soon after, police reached the spot and admitted people to the hospital. Three people died here during treatment. Police are said to have arrested one of the attackers with a gun and ammunition. In addition, searches are being conducted at the camp to arrest the other accused.
