The Deputy Head of the Directorate of Prisons, Bajlur Rashid said that since Sunday, more than 81,000 prisoners in the country are being given different refreshments in place of bread and jaggery. Rashid said that according to the new men' meeting, the prisoners will now be given bread, vegetables, sweets, khichdi, etc.

According to the information, Bangladesh has a capacity of 35,000 prisoners in 60 jails, but there are more prisoners than it is, which human rights organizations have been critical of. The Bangladesh government has decided to make these changes because the prisoners often complain about the quality and quantity of food that is provided in the jail.
