Bank Employees' Assoc. seeks FM’S intervention over restricting banking hours in Goa

Hyderabad: All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) on Monday sought the intervention of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to advise the state government and local State Level Bankers’ Committee in Goa to restrict banking hours as the bank employees are getting affected in large numbers due to COVID-19.

 AIBEA General Secretary C.H. Venkatchalam in a tweet said @nsitharaman Respected Madam Goa bank employees getting affected in large number State Government & local SLBC not giving any guideline to restrict banking hours etc Seek your kind intervention to advise them Employees in Goa highly worried and desperate @Chvenkatachalm AIBEA.

In a letter to Sitharaman C.H.Venkatachalam wrote: "As you well aware, the number of people getting affected by covid infection is on the high side in Goa. Number of bank employees have also got affected by the virus. Hence employees and officers working in the Branches in Goa are highly worried and concerned and are presently working in the Banks with a lot of fear and apprehension."

While in many other states the State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) have given advisories and guidelines restricting the number of employees attending the banks daily, the Goan government nor the SLBC there have any such guidelines adding to the anxiety of the bank staff, Venkatachalam said.
