Kolkata: Amid the ongoing counting of votes for the West Bengal Assembly elections, BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Sunday attributed the Trinamool Congress (TMC) to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her excellent performance in the elections and said her party will introspect on the election results.

Earlier, he had claimed that initial trends do not indicate final electoral results. At the same time, he had expressed confidence in BJP's victory. Vijayvargiya, now in charge of West Bengal, BJP, also said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called him to enquire about the party's poor performance. Vijayvargiya has expressed surprise over the failure of Union Minister Babul Supriyo and MP Locket Chatterjee to lag behind in the counting.

He further said, 'Trinamool Congress won because of Mamata Banerjee. It looks like people liked Didi. We'll review what went wrong. Was there any organizational deficiency or lack of face or external-inner debate? We'll see what went wrong.' The trends in counting so far indicate that Mamata Banerjee is coming to power for the third time. The Trinamool Congress is leading in more than 200 seats while the BJP is leading in about 80 seats.
