Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced the launch of the doorstep ration delivery scheme, claiming that the underprivileged will no longer have to queue since high-quality rations will be brought to their homes.

However, Mann stated in a video message that the scheme will be optional for eligible beneficiaries. The details of this scheme, according to Mann, will be released soon.

"The AAP government has decided to start delivering rations to people's homes. Good quality ration products will be brought to beneficiaries' doorsteps under the system, he said, and no one will have to queue or take time off work.  "Our personnel will contact the beneficiaries by phone, and the rations will be delivered to their houses according to their convenience and availability," Mann said. He stated that this plan is optional. If the ration depot is close to your home, the Punjab chief minister stated, you can get your ration there.

"Unfortunately, it was discontinued," Mann said, adding that the Arvind Kejriwal government had initiated this scheme in Delhi as well. However, in Punjab, we will implement this programme and run it successfully".

Mann expressed regret that, 75 years after the country's independence, the poor and common people still have to queue outside ration depots to receive their ration. Various goods of daily needs, including food, are delivered to people's doorsteps with only one phone call in this digital age, he said.
