New Delhi: A portion of the Bhalswa dumping site in Delhi has collapsed. According to reports, several houses have been buried in the debris due to its impact. As soon as the information was received, the local police station also reached the spot. No casualty has been reported so far. The debris removal work is currently underway. Some media reports claimed that a large mountain-like portion of the Bhalswa dumping site, made up of garbage dumps, fell on nearby slums today, Monday morning.
In fact, there are slum-like houses near this dumping site. According to reports, a large number of people live in these houses and when the debris suddenly fell, they were locked at the doors of people's houses. In view of all this, people were pulled out from the top of the roofs by the stairs. The best part is that no one was injured. This debris has fallen on the slums of Shraddhanand Colony near the Bhalswa landfill site. At present, the work of removing the debris is being carried out by the administration here. The entire dumping site has been swamped due to rain here and at the same time, there is a fear of falling part of the dumping site.
Ghazipur is the largest landfill site for the most garbage in Delhi. In view of the ever-increasing height of landfills, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi had installed trauma machines here in September last year. In fact, at the dumping site in Ghazipur, these machines process about 2400 metric tonnes of waste every day, making soil. The remaining waste is sent to the waste to the energy plant.
