Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has credited Mohammad Kaif for dismissing Sachin Tendulkar for the first time in the Ranji Trophy. Bhuvneshwar took the wicket of Sachin while playing for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy 2008-09 season. For the first time Sachin was dismissed for zero in domestic cricket. Bhubaneswar was 19 years old at that time.
Four years after this, Bhuvi dismissed Mohammad Hafeez of Pakistan on the first ball of his debut match in ODIs.
Bhuvneshwar, however, has credited the then Uttar Pradesh captain Mohammad Kaif for dismissing Sachin at zero. During the double trouble chat show, Bhubaneswar said, "Usually, you hope to take wickets before the start of any game, but you cannot decide how many wickets you are going to get."
He said, "But when it comes to Sachin's wicket, I will say that I was lucky during that match, because the credit of the wicket that Sachin got to me, goes to our captain Mohammad Kaif." Bhuvneshwar said, "He neither put the filler at mid-wicket nor did it catch at the short leg, the place where he kept the filler."
