The Jor Biden administration is reportedly gearing up to send additional weaponry to Israel, despite ongoing efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza. Current and former US officials revealed that the proposed shipment includes MK-82 bombs, KMU-572 Joint Direct Attack Munitions for precision guidance, and FMU-139 bomb fuses, with an estimated value in the tens of millions of dollars.

The decision is still under internal review by the administration, with potential changes before notifying congressional committee leaders for approval.

Requests for comments from the US State Department, Defense Department, Israel Defense Forces, and Israel Defense Ministry have not been immediately answered.

Criticism has mounted against the Biden administration for supplying arms to Israel, amid allegations of civilian casualties resulting from the use of American-made weapons. Notably, the administration had previously bypassed congressional review for weapons sales to Israel on two occasions, as of December 2023.

The conflict in Gaza escalated when Hamas, backed by Iran, initiated attacks on Israel in October, resulting in casualties on both sides. Israeli airstrikes and ground operations have caused significant destruction in Gaza, leading to a high number of civilian casualties and displacements.
