Thane: A major incident is coming out from Mumbai where a major accident has occurred due to the collapse of a building in Bhiwandi area of ​​Thane district on Saturday afternoon. It is reported that a 3-storey building suddenly collapsed in Valpada area of ​​Bhiwandi, in which about 40 people are feared to be buried under the debris. Fire department, police and other emergency services have reached the spot and rescue operations are underway.

According to the news received, the accident took place at Vardhman Compound, Kailas Nagar, Mauje, Valpada. The accident happened at around 1.45 pm. Around 20 persons are feared trapped under the debris of ground plus two-storey building collapse in Bhiwandi on Saturday afternoon. Police and fire department team have started the operation to rescue the trapped persons. The team has rescued a two and a half year old child from the debris. It is said that around 3 to 4 families were living on the second and third floor of the building and there was a godown on the ground floor of the building. There are also reports of many workers being trapped. Senior officers of the local administration are also present on the occasion.

Thane Regional Disaster Management Cell chief Avinash Sawant said that rescue and relief operations have been started in Valpada area of ​​Mankoli. Many people are still feared trapped under the debris. The building is said to be very old. The exact cause of the building's collapse is yet to be ascertained. However, the incident comes as a reminder of the strict measures being taken to ensure the safety of buildings in the city. Reminds the rules and the need for regular inspection.
