Major blow to Chhattisgarh Police, journalist Rohit Ranjan's arrest stayed

Raipur: Zee News journalist Rohit Ranjan has received a major relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has stayed the arrest of Rohit Ranjan. The Supreme Court has said that wherever an FIR has been lodged against Rohit Ranjan, no action will be taken against him.

The supreme court's decision is a major setback for the Chhattisgarh police as the police of the Congress-ruled state had reached Rohit Ranjan's house to arrest him keeping in mind the rules. Chhattisgarh police had arrived to arrest journalist Rohit Ranjan without informing the UP police. Rohit Ranjan lives in Indirapuram in Ghaziabad.  

10-15 members of the Chhattisgarh Police had created a ruckus at Rohit's house. He reached Rohit's house at 5 am without an I-card and without a uniform. They destroyed the belongings of Rohit Ranjan's house. The Chhattisgarh Police had also misbehaved with the security guards of Rohit Ranjan's society. A bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and JK Maheshwari issued notice to the Central government through the attorney general's office on Rohit Ranjan's plea. Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for Rohit Ranjan, told the apex court that several FIRs have been lodged against him for the same allegation.
