Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, a male elephant has been reported to have died after being hit by an 11,000-volt high-tension wire in the Shivalik forest division of Saharanpur in the Mohand range. The age of the dead male elephant is said to be around 45-50 years. According to information, major negligence of the electricity department has been exposed in the Shivalik forest division Mohand range of Saharanpur. 

An elephant has lost its life after being hit by an 11,000-volt high-tension wire on the banks of the river at Shivalik Farm here. As soon as the death of the elephant was reported, the forest department and police reached the spot. A crowd of nearby villagers also gathered at the spot. The forest department team has taken the elephant's carcass in its possession and sent it for post-mortem. After the post-mortem, a JCB machine has also been called on the spot to bury the deceased elephant. Shweta Jain, DFO of Shivalik range, has informed that the age of the deceased elephant looks to be 45-50 years from the sight. 

Dr Rakesh Nautiyal, an officer of the World Wide Life Forest Department, Dehradun, has informed that the height of the power line here is very low. Due to the high height of the elephant, he was hit by an electric wire. The male elephant lost its life due to the current.
