Mumbai: Home delivery of liquor will now be stopped in Maharashtra. The Home Department has written to the Excise Department to stop home delivery. Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said that due to the low number of corona cases, we are stopping the home delivery of liquor. This arrangement was at the time of lockdown.

It is worth mentioning that the home delivery of liquor was started after the increase in corona cases in Maharashtra. However, these deliveries were for licensed shops. The person who used to go for the delivery of alcohol had to wear a mask and gloves. In view of the growing crisis of corona, this step was taken to protect the delivery man and the customer. Now that cases have come down, the government has decided to stop home delivery.

The Maharashtra government had issued a notification for home delivery. According to the notification, Liquor, Beer, Mild Licker, and Wine, having FL-II, FL/BR-II, and FL/W-II licenses under Bombay Licker Rules 1953 can deliver to the delivery home address. Then this rule was made that the liquor shops which will make home delivery, will have to give complete information about the list along with the medical examination report of their delivery boys to the Excise Department. It will be mandatory for the delivery boys doing home delivery of liquor amidst the corona infection lockdown, to wear gloves, masks.
