Shimla: Before the 2022 Himachal assembly elections, the Congress has made a major change in the state organization and made Pratibha Singh, the MP from Mandi and wife of late former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, as the state president. Pratibha Singh has also been given four associate leaders who will assist her. As the leader of the legislature party, the Congress has reposed faith in Mukesh Agnihotri, who has been an MLA for four times.
At the same time, senior leader Harshvardhan Chauhan has been given the post of deputy of the legislature party by the party. Along with this, the party has made former state unit president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu as chairman of the election campaign committee in the state. Apart from this, he has also been appointed as a member of the Screening Committee of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), which will decide the selection of candidates during the elections.
The Congress has appointed former deputy leader of Congress in the Upper House, Anand Sharma, as the head of the screening committee. In this committee, former in-charge of Punjab unit of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and senior MLA Asha Kumar will be in the role of convener. Apart from these, ten people including Dhani Ram Shandil and outgoing state unit chief Kuldeep Rathore have been kept in this panel which will decide the ticket division.
