Sunita Kejriwal, wife of the incarcerated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is set to deliver a press statement today at noon, announced the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday.

There are expectations of significant revelations from Sunita Kejriwal.

Earlier, on Tuesday evening, Sunita Kejriwal had a meeting with her husband at the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) office.

Arvind Kejriwal was apprehended by the ED on March 21 in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case, which is associated with a money laundering investigation. He was remanded to the custody of the ED until March 28.

The case revolves around alleged irregularities and money laundering concerning the framing and execution of the Delhi excise policy in 2022, which was subsequently annulled.

This case stemmed from a report submitted by Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena in July 2022. The report highlighted purported procedural lapses in formulating the policy.

The report mentioned "arbitrary and unilateral decisions" made by the then Excise Minister, Manish Sisodia, resulting in financial losses estimated at over Rs 580 crore to the exchequer. This report prompted a CBI investigation and led to Sisodia's arrest.

Although Arvind Kejriwal was not initially named in the FIRs filed by the ED or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Delhi excise policy case, his name surfaced in the ED's chargesheet. The agency claimed that he allegedly communicated with one of the primary accused, Sameer Mahendru, via video call, urging him to continue collaborating with co-accused AAP communications-in-charge Vijay Nair.
