Patna: About one and a half dozen people are feared drowned after a boat capsized in the Ganga river in the Islampur police station area of the Naugachia subdivision of Bhagalpur district of Bihar on Wednesday (October 26) evening. Four bodies have been recovered so far. Dozens of people are still missing. According to Navgachia SDO Uttam Kumar, the bodies of four people have been retrieved so far. Including three members of the same family. Their names are Rambha Devi, her son Laxman Kumar and her daughter Sweety Kumari. The body of one Suman Kumar has also been recovered.

According to the SDO, the search for the bodies has been stopped due to darkness. They will be discovered again in the morning. About twenty people from Mewalal Das Tola village were going to Abhiyadih in the Gopalpur area by boat to see the Kali Puja fair on Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, on the way, the boat lost balance near Malpur village and the boat sank. He said that about a dozen people have been reported drowned in this accident. Later, four bodies, including three members of a family, were recovered with the help of local divers.  

While the other three-four people managed to swim out. The sub-divisional officer said that as soon as the information about the accident was received, a team of local police and administrative officials reached the spot and started relief and rescue work. The NDRF team has reached the spot. But due to darkness, the work of finding the rest of the people will be started on Thursday morning.
