Patna: The Congress has given an ultimatum to the RJD over the Bihar assembly bypoll that if the RJD does not withdraw the name of its declared candidate Ganesh Bharti from the Kusheshwarsthan assembly seat till tonight, the Congress will field its candidate against the RJD in Kusheshwarsthan as well as Tarapur assembly seat on Tuesday.

Talking to media in Bihar assembly, Congress Legislature Party leader Ajit Sharma said that the party is very angry with the manner in which RJD announced its candidate's name for Tarapur as well Kusheshwarsthan seat on Sunday and believes that RJD has not followed coalition religion.  Ajit Sharma further said, "The Congress is hurt that the RJD finally announced its candidate in both the seats without consulting us.''

The Congress is surprised by this unilateral announcement and we have also informed the party high command. Congress has decided that we will now field our candidates in both seats.  Sharma said Kusheshwarsthan has been the traditional seat of the Congress and the Congress was second in the last assembly elections as well. Sharma said it was on this basis that Congress should have contested the Kusheshwarsthan seat but the RJD has fielded its candidate in the seat.
