Patna: Protests are going on in many places in the country over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), NRC and National Population Register (NPR). All opposition parties are engaged in besieging the government and are protesting on the road against it. But the government's attitude towards all these protests does not seem soft. Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Modi has given a big statement regarding NPR. He said that a decision has been taken regarding NPR and the process of implementing it will be initiated.

Sushil Modi said that the decision has been taken regarding NPR. The process will be started regarding the same. Data collection for NPR will be started in Bihar from May 15 to 28. NPR will be a register of citizens of the country. Earlier in the year 2010, data was collected. This work was done when the data for the 2011 census was collected. Officials say that in 2015, data digitization for door-to-door surveys and updates has been completed.

NPR means National Population Register under the Citizenship Act 1955 and Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and National Identity Card) Rules, 2003 will be prepared at the local level i.e. sub-district, district and state level. It will be mandatory for every citizen of the country to register their names. In a way, it will be a comprehensive database for citizens living in the country, which will be prepared on the demographic and biometric basis.
