Patna: In Bihar, there is prohibition, but many families once again suffered from poisonous liquor. On the occasion of Deepawali, 31 persons have died due to the consumption of poisonous liquor in Gopalganj and Bettiah. While 20 persons have died in Gopalganj, 11 persons have lost their lives in Bettiah so far. Many people have also lost their eyesight due to the consumption of poisonous liquor. Earlier last week, six persons lost their lives in Muzaffarpur due to drinking alcohol.

In Bihar, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has blamed the Nitish government for the deaths due to prohibition. More than 35 people died by the government on Deepawali day in Bihar due to poisonous liquor, Tejashwi tweeted. There is a liquor ban on paper in Bihar because of the black fun and loot.

With this, CM Nitish Kumar has made an absurd statement on the deaths due to poisonous liquor in Bihar. He has said, 'If you drink something wrong, that is what will happen. They drink even after refusing so much. Since 2016, we have strictly implemented prohibition. Most of the individuals are in favour of prohibition. There is an appeal to a few people who drink and don't drink. Something will go wrong. Some people have a tendency to mess up.' The CM further said, "A few miscreants are punished. They also went to jail. Appeal to the people to stay away from it. Some people speak against me on prohibition but doesn't matter.''
