Patna: The decision has been taken in a new amendment to the prohibition law in Bihar. Yes, and it says that those caught drinking alcohol for the first time will be released after paying the fine. Let us also tell you all that the amendment passed in the budget session of the state assembly did not give details of the amount of fine, however, on Monday, the state cabinet approved the new amount of fine.

What is the new fine- Let you tell everyone that those caught drinking alcohol for the first time in the state will be released with a fine between Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 as per the decision of the Executive Magistrate. Yes, however, earlier, according to an amendment made in 2018, there was a fine of Rs 50,000 for first-time offenders. Apart from this, if the person who commits the offence for the first time fails to pay the fine, then he can be imprisoned for one month. At the same time, releasing the fine amount will not mean that you will misbehave with the police and the magistrate. In fact, if you do not behave properly before the police, then you may have to go to jail. At the same time, if you are caught drinking alcohol for the second time, then there is a provision for a mandatory one-year jail term.

All of you will remember that in the last few weeks, the Supreme Court had also reprimanded the Nitish government over the prohibition law in Bihar. In fact, the Supreme Court reprimanded the state over liquor cases in courts, especially those related to bail. After facing a lot of criticism, the state government implemented this new amendment and reduced the amount of fines so that the legal system in Bihar does not exceed the cases of alcohol.

Major changes in the prohibition law-
* As per the information received, now those caught drinking alcohol are now bailed out by the Executive Magistrate.
* Also additional fine or jail or both on repeated offences.
* Now the ASI will also be able to seal the site of the liquor vending.
* With this, the seized vehicles will be able to be exempted by paying a fine, DM got the right.
