BIHAR: On October 10 and 20, Bihar government will hold two rounds of civic elections,  the State Election Commission said. 

According to the statement, elections will be held for 224 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) throughout the state.  The counting of the ballots will take place on October 12 for the first phase and on October 22 for the second phase.

According to the announcement released by the state election Commission on Friday, the second phase of voting for all 17 municipal corporations, including the one in Patna, will take place on October 20.

Voting will begin at seven in the morning. to 5 p.m. during each phase.

The deadline for withdrawals from the first phase is September 24, and nomination forms may be filed by September 21. The deadline for withdrawals from the second phase is September 29, and nominations can be submitted up until September 26.

"Symbols will be allotted to candidates on September 25 for the elections on October 10; however, the identical symbols will be given on September 30 for the second phase. The notification said that electronic voting machines (EVMs) would be used to elect the urban local bodies.

There will be elections for 44 Nagar Parishad and 95 Nagar panchayats, among other civic entities. In total, 1,14,52,759 voters consisting 60,17,882 men and 54,34,455 women, are entitled to cast ballots.
