Daddy Yankee showed the world why he's 'El Jefe' at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday night in Miami, just before formally entering the Billboard Latin Music Awards Hall of Fame.

Yankee performed his new track 'Mattele Al Perreo' from his upcoming album while rolling up to the Watsco Center stage in a subway vehicle owing to some ingenious experimental set. Yankee accepted the Hall of Fame award after the concert.

DY claimed he's "still working on" the album that 'Matttele Al Perreo' comes from during a Q&A with Billboard VP/Latin Industry Lead Leila Cobo the day before, but "we're almost to the conclusion." Daddy Yankee is the stage name of Raman Luis Ayala Rodraguez, a Puerto Rican singer, composer, and rapper.

Music reviewers and fans alike refer to him as the King of Reggaetann. In 1994, Daddy Yankee invented the term reggaeton to characterize a new music genre coming from Puerto Rico that combined American hip-hop, Latin Caribbean music, Jamaican reggae rhythms, and Spanish rapping and singing.
