Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, the founder of Indian company Biocon, has been awarded highest civilian honor 'Order of Australia'. She has been given this honor in view of his contribution to furthering the relationship between Australia and India.

For your information, let us tell you that Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is the fourth Indian citizen to be awarded the highest civilian honor of Australia. Earlier in 2012, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, former Attorney General of India Soli Jahangir Sorabji in 2006 and Mother Teresa in 1982 have received this honor.

The Australian High Commission in a statement on the matter said that Australia's High Commissioner to India, Harinder Sidhu, granted Kiran Mazumdar Shaw an honorary membership of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division at a ceremony held in Bangalore on Friday.
