As Cyclone 'Biparjoy' gathers strength over the southeast Arabian Sea, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts its intensification into a severe cyclonic storm. Expected to veer northward in the coming hours, wind speeds may reach 135-145 kmph, with gusts up to 160 kmph over the next three to four days. In response, the IMD has issued warnings advising fishermen to refrain from venturing into the sea.

Preemptive measures are underway as authorities brace for the cyclone's impact. Ahead of Biparjoy's anticipated landfall near Jakhau port in Gujarat's Kutch district, approximately 30,000 individuals from coastal regions have been relocated to temporary shelters. Coordination efforts between the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Army aim to ensure swift relief operations and minimize casualties.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a virtual meeting to assess preparedness, emphasizing the need for Gujarat's government to facilitate the evacuation of vulnerable populations to safer locations. Additionally, directives were issued to guarantee essential services such as electricity, telecommunications, healthcare, and clean water supply.

Meanwhile, Union Power Minister R K Singh conducted a review of power supply arrangements in Gujarat and Rajasthan, areas projected to bear the brunt of Cyclone 'Biparjoy.' Collaborating with relevant authorities, discussions centered on maintaining power grids and devising restoration strategies in the event of disruptions.

With the cyclone's trajectory posing a significant threat, concerted efforts are underway to safeguard lives and mitigate potential damage across affected regions.
