Imphal: In the recently concluded Assembly elections in Manipur, the BJP has returned to power by winning 32 seats in the 60-member Assembly. That is why the BJP high command has once again made N Biren Singh the CM of the state. After becoming the Chief Minister, Biren Singh has expressed hope of withdrawing the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) from the state soon.
CM Biren has said that we have identified some areas of the state. We have already urged the central government and I think some positive things will come out soon. He further said "You see a state like Manipur which is on the border of Myanmar and was bothered earlier. It was very difficult for the BJP to get an absolute majority here. I would like to thank PM Narendra Modi, as his mantra of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas' gave a lot of confidence to the people of the state. We acted accordingly and the 'double engine' was implemented."
CM Biren further said "We went to the hills and villages and this created tremendous support and awareness among the people. That's why we managed to overcome the difficulties. The Congress and the NPP were in front of us and the fight was of confrontation. There were many fights inside and out. I thank people. I thank the national leaders who have entrusted me with this responsibility. My thanks to the Prime Minister and all the senior leaders."
