Birthday Special:  'Anand Bakshi' left Royal Indian Navy to become songwriter in Mumbai

Popular Indian poet and film lyricist Anand Bakshi was Born on July 21, 1930. He was born in Rawalpindi, now in Pakistan, in the Punjab province of India during the British period. His family moved to Lucknow in 1947. He worked as a cadet in the Royal Indian Navy, but he did not feel like he belongs there and reached Bombay to become a singer.

So Sanjay-Ranbir not working together in this film?

First, he had the opportunity to write a song in Lord Dada's film Bhala Aadmi in 1958. However, he achieved popularity with his work in film Mehndi in 1962.  In 1965, his s song 'Chand Si Mehbooba Ho Meri'  was much liked in those days. He became a successful lyricist after 1967's song 'Savan ka Mahina pawan kare shor'.

He also wrote songs for 1969's superhit movie Aradhana. Anand Bakshi wrote till his death in 2002. In his career of more than 40 years, he has produced more than 4 thousand songs for almost 600  films. He was nominated 40 times for Best Songwriter at the Filmfare Awards, in which he received the award four times.
