Smriti Irani was born on 23-03-1976 in New Delhi, India. Today She turned 43, who is an Indian Politician, and former Model, Television Actress, Television Producer, Film Actress & Theatre Actress who mainly known for her work in Television Serials. She is a Member of Parliament, being elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Gujarat. She is the current Textiles Minister in the Government of India.

Career

Smriti Irani started her career as a model and participated in Miss India contest in 1998. She emerged finalist in the contest and that is how she came to limelight.  In 1998, Irani appeared in a song "Boliyan" of the album "Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag" with Mika Singh. She entered the television industry in the early 2000s In mid-2000, Irani won the lead role of Tulsi Virani in Ekta Kapoor's production Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi on Star Plus. Smiriti Irani had a fallout with the producer Ekta Kapoor and she left the show in June 2007. However, she was brought back for a special episode in 2008. 

Since then, she has appeared in various television series like Kuch. Diiil Se, Mere Apne, Yeh Hai Jalwa, and Ek Thhi Naayka among several others. In addition to performing, she has also hosted shows like Yeh Hai Jalwa and Savdhaan India. she also played the epic character Sita in Zee TV's Ramayan. In 2006,

She made her foray into the politics by joining BJP in 2003. She became the vice-president of the Maharashtra Youth Wing in 2004. she contested unsuccessfully against Kapil Sibal from the Chandni Chowk constituency in Delhi. She was made National Secretary of the party in 2010 and was also made the party President of the BJP’s women’s wing, BJP Mahila Morcha. Irani contested the 2014 general elections against Rahul Gandhi in Amethi constituency of Uttar Pradesh. Irani lost to Gandhi by 1,07,923 votes. She was made the Cabinet Minister of Human Resource Development in Narendra Modi’s cabinet. In a cabinet reshuffle, Irani was given the charge of Ministry of Textiles in 2016.
