BJP Holds Crucial Meet Today Amid Suspense Over New Cms In 3 States

NEW DELHI: A crucial meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took place on Thursday, amid suspense on the new chief ministers for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.

Days following the BJP's decisive victory in the assembly elections across the Hindi heartland on December 3, a high-level BJP meeting is scheduled. The party ousted the Congress from power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and successfully retained power in Madhya Pradesh, defying anti-incumbency sentiments.

These three states collectively contribute 65 MPs to the Lok Sabha, marking a significant political boost for the BJP as the party gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections next year.

Earlier today, 10 BJP MPs, including two Union ministers who emerged victorious in the assembly elections, resigned from the Lok Sabha. Their resignations were tendered subsequent to their meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief JP Nadda.

During the BJP's victory celebration after the triumph in Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings.

Madhya Pradesh

In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP secured a landslide victory by capturing 163 out of 230 seats. Amidst speculation about the next chief minister, current CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan clarified on Tuesday that he had never positioned himself as a contender for the CM's post. "I was not a contender for CM previously, and I am not now. I am merely a party worker and will fulfill any role or responsibility given to me by the party," Chouhan stated.

The names circulating for the top post include key BJP figures such as Union ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narendra Singh Tomar, and Prahlad Singh Patel, along with the party's national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya.

Rajasthan

The BJP triumphed over the Congress in Rajasthan, securing 115 out of the 199 contested seats. Post-victory, intense discussions are underway in Jaipur and Delhi to finalize the new chief minister.

Several prominent BJP figures, including former CM Vasundhara Raje, Diya Kumari (victorious from the Vidhyadhar Nagar constituency), Mahant Balak Nath (winner from the Tijara constituency), and Rajyavarardhan Singh Rathore (successful in the Jhotwara constituency), emerge as frontrunners for the coveted position.
