Shimla: The results of the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections have been revealed. The 'custom' of the hill state continues and this time Congress is going to form the government in the state. This time, the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was also struggling in the state, but the party could not even open its account and the main contest was between the BJP and the Congress, which the Congress won by a few thousand votes.

In the Himachal elections, Congress got 43.9 percent vote share i.e. 18 lakh 52 thousand 504 votes. The party won a total of 40 seats in Himachal Pradesh. At the same time, the BJP, which was trying to stay in power got only 25 seats. BJP's vote share was 43 percent i.e. 18 lakh 14 thousand 530. In this context, the BJP lost the Himachal government by just 37,974 votes. This is the lowest figure since 1951.

Jai Ram Thakur, who was the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, registered the biggest victory. He defeated Congress' Chetram Thakur by 38,183 votes from the Siraj constituency. At the same time, since the victory of a small margin, Suresh Kumar of Congress defeated BJP's Anil Dhiman by just 60 votes.  

In the 2017 assembly polls, the BJP had won 44 seats with a voter share of 48.79 percent and the Congress 21 seats. The difference between the two parties was 7.11 percent. According to a report, the results of the year 2022 show that the average margin of victory of the BJP in 25 seats was 7,427, and the victory margin of the Congress in 40 seats (5,784 votes) was less.
