New Delhi: BJP on Saturday (2 March) presented the first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The party is now busy preparing the second list of candidates. A meeting of BJP Core Committee is also going to be held regarding this on Wednesday (6 March). The remaining seats of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar are going to be discussed in the meeting.

Reports say that BJP President JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the meeting. But it is also being said that just as the party had sidelined the veterans in the first list, similarly many leaders can be sidelined in the second list too. 

The list may be released on March 7-8: Not only this, in this meeting the party is going to finalize the names of the candidates for the second list. The party may also present a second list of candidates on March 7 or 8. Names of candidates from many states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana and Rajasthan are going to be included in this list.  

Brijbhushan Sharan Singh's ticket may be cut: Like the first list, in the second list too the party can focus on maintaining distance from controversial faces. Among them is Kaiserganj MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who was also accused of sexual exploitation by female wrestlers. Maneka Gandhi and Varun Gandhi, who are reportedly angry with the party, are also expected to be removed. However, no indication has been given by BJP in this regard.

Tickets of controversial leaders were cut in the first list: According to the information received so far, BJP had also cut the tickets of those MPs in its first list, who were involved in controversies or were seen giving controversial statements. Among these, names of leaders like Bhopal MP Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri and West Delhi seat MP Pravesh Verma are present.
