AHMEDABAD : The Parliamentary Board of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Gujarat had already made it clear that no politician's family members would be given tickets in the civic elections. Deepak Srivastava, the son of MLA Dabang leader Madhu Srivastava from Vadodara, did not get the ticket, while the MLA son had filed nomination from Ward No.15 as an independent candidate.

Ashish Joshi, close to MLA Shailesh Sotta from Dabhoi in Vadodara, has objected to Deepak's nomination. Ashish said that Deepak is the father of three children. According to corporation rules, he is not eligible to contest elections. While hearing on the complaint was going on, no decision was taken on the nomination that Deepak's supporters started vandalizing the office of returning officer. After this incident, Deepak's nomination was rejected by the returning officer.

After getting the information, additional police force reached the spot and controlled the situation. Taking this incident seriously, the police have started further action by registering a case of damage to government property and obstructing government work. Actually, Deepak had mentioned only two children in his nomination papers. While they have three children. In case of mentioning three children, their nomination would be canceled as per corporation rules.
